When it comes to spending time with your loved ones, it’s the small moments that make the biggest difference. The Mt. Pleasant area offers a variety of opportunities to make those moments into lasting memories. From hands-on museums and art classes, to sledding hills and trampoline parks, the community offers a number of places to make memories this winter. Here are our favorite family-friendly activities and attractions to experience while visiting the Mt. Pleasant area:


I.C.E. Arena: Both local and visiting families can all agree that ice skating at the I.C.E. Arena is a winter tradition.

The Jump Station: Jump for joy at The Jump Station, where a trampoline park, foam pit, inflatables and more can turn an average day into a truly memorable adventure.

Mt. Pleasant Discovery Museum: The Mt. Pleasant Discovery Museum gives kids the opportunity to experience something new and exciting, all while learning!

Ziibiwing Cultural Center: Learn about the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe and other Great Lakes Anishinaabe Tribes at the Midwest’s premiere American Indian museum and cultural center.

Soaring Eagle Waterpark: Get ready for a day of thrills with Loon’s Loop and Otters Run, or take it easy with Gizi’s Splash and Dunk and the Little Beaver Bend at Soaring Eagle Waterpark.

Morey Courts and CMU’s Student Activity Center:  Both Morey Courts and Central Michigan University’s Student Activity Center gives families the opportunity to get active!


Parks: With more than 1,000 acres of parkland, Isabella county is filled with opportunities to unplug from the hustle and bustle of life, and embrace the tranquility of a Michigan winter.

Chippewa Watershed Conservancy: Bundle up for a day of snowshoeing, winter hiking and cross country skiing at one of the Chippewa Watershed Conservancy preserves. You may even attempt to conquer the elusive mountain of Mt. Pleasant at Bundy Hill Preserve.


Deerfield Nature Park: Sled, cross-country ski, walk the trails along the Chippewa River or play a round of disc golf at Deerfield Nature Park.

Mission Creek Woodland Park: Grab your sleds, saucers and snowboards for a day on the hill at Mission Creek Woodland Park, or explore the great outdoors with a day hike.

Snow Snake Ski: Located in Harrison, 30 minutes north of Mt. Pleasant, Snow Snake is worth the trip for a day of  sledding, skiing and snowboarding.

Classes + Events

Throughout the winter months, a number of local businesses offer classes to keep creativity flowing.  Art Reach of Md-Michigan offers a variety of arts and crafts courses for children; every Friday Art Reach opens its studio for artists to work on projects. If you’re planning a weekend trip, the second Saturday of every month belongs to Kids & Culture; a free, kids event featuring arts, crafts, programs and more at various locations.
