Small town, BIG culture: Museums & Galleries

When’s the last time you said more than hello? For us, it’s every day. Where fresh meets familiar, the Mt. Pleasant area is the intersection of every walk and stage of life. Experience artistry in every form – from canvas and sculptures to learning more about American Indian culture, the Mt. Pleasant area thrives on art and culture.

Experience the Midwest’s premier American Indian museum, the Ziibiwing Cultural Center. The center provides education on the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe and other Great Lakes Anishinabek tribes, and a diverse collection of sacred and ceremonial items.

Walk through displays of artistry and brilliance at a local gallery. See more than 150 Michigan artists’ work at Art Reach of Mid Michigan, explore prints, jewelry and more at Main Frame Gallery, and witness up and coming artists at Central Michigan University’s various exhibitions.

In August, Art Reach of Mid Michigan hosts an annual Art Walk Central competition where local store fronts and museums feature works of art from more than 100 artists. This event is held through the month and brings chalk art installations on the sidewalks and activities throughout Downtown Mt. Pleasant.

This is the place for every generation and imagination; where cultures collaborate to keep our city on the upswing.

Many backgrounds. Meet here. #MeetMtP
