Every year, on the first weekend of December the streets of Downtown Mt. Pleasant are filled with Christmas cheer. Lights brighten the streets, while restaurants and businesses decorate their windows with uniquely themed Christmas trees spreading the holiday spirit to all who visit. This year on December 5th and 6th the Mt. Pleasant Christmas Celebration kicks off the holiday season with past time favorites and a few new activities that will get any visitor in a giving mood.

The Mt. Pleasant Christmas Celebration is an event for the whole family. New for 2014 is the Christmas Market, located in Town Center, offering hand-made seasonal crafts perfect for gift giving. On Friday visitors can stop in one of the many warming stations for hot chocolate and treats as they hear the sounds of carolers and local musicians. Later in the evening hayrides take guests through the streets and families gather to see a Christmas play at the historical Broadway Theater.

On Saturday morning, everyone can enjoy a flying pancake breakfast with Santa himself! Afterwards, children love the “make and take” crafts offered at some local businesses and the library. Kids also have a chance to visit Santa with their Christmas wish list in Town Center.

The weekend wouldn’t be the same without the Lighted Christmas Parade. Closing the weekend activities, the parade travels throughout the streets of Downtown with floats covered in hundreds of lights.
